Certain people on Twitter want Obama Assassinated

What person could come up with such a lack of morality to Tweet such a thing! - Thats what thousands of people (and more) are thinking after hearing the news about this. Two Twitter users are learning the hard way after tweeting Assassination threats against the President of the United States, that stuff like this is taken very seriously, even when they’re just a tweet…

Justin Bieber knocked off Twitter trending topics by C-SPAN

Last night was a historic day in terms of government and law for the United States; Passed in the late hours of the night on March 21st  was the bill for Health Care Reform. It was a big one around the USA and millions tuned into C-SPAN to catch the action directly, without the need of talking heads telling them what to think.

What's this have to do with tech and geek culture you ask?

Well, how about the fact that the term "C-SPAN", the channel otherwise known for being present only to take up space, knocked Justin Bieber off the Trending topics list on Twitter. It indeed was a historic day for, not just Americans, but for everyone around the world.

Also of note, "baby killer" made its way into the top ten. You can thank the heated health care debate for that one.

Happy 4th Birthday Twitter!

They grow up so fast - and so does our beloved Twitter. Sunday, March 21st marks Twitter’s 4th birthday. Exactly four years ago, Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey sent his first Tweet and, along with Evan Williams and Biz Stone, took a leap of faith, and started the next big thing.

Twitter has been growing at such an alarming rate, it has reached the volume of 50 Million Tweets every day, and its not slowing down for anything. If you are interested in how Twitter came to be, check out the video after the break - it shows an accurate time lapse of the development cycle that happened at Twitter for the past 4 years.

Stats - What are people saying on Twitter about Facebook?

We all love Twitter almost as much as you do - but did you know that a lot of Tweets pushed out by users are Facebook related, or 100% about Facebook? That alone is weird, but the even weirder part is its not really "spam" or bantering on about "Facebook did something new and I oppose it for some reason or whatever." - most of it is actually relevant, useful information that is readable and made by humans, and surprisingly, a good chunk of it is all positive!

Facebook and Twitter Making a big Impact on Buying Decisions

A new study shows that those who are fans or followers of a brand on Facebook or Twitter, respectively, are significantly more likely to buy products and services or recommend the brand to a friend. That makes huge sense, and I have fallen victim to buying stuff, just because someone I idolize has done the same - Read more

Video - What if Twitter came to life?

Heads up, there are some slightly NSFW moments in the video - but that just re-enforces the fact that it could be the best representation of Twitter coming to life possible. It portrays a number of Twitter users acting out others' tweets. Simple as that. The creators @poeks & @sween made this by getting some Twitter friends to re-create some of the funniest Tweets ever, but it gets really creative with the addition of a random dance sequence, guitar solo, and infamous "YEEEAAAHHHHH!!" moment. So hold on tight and re-live some of the funniest moments from Twitter in real life!

Conan O'Brien gets random girl over 25,000 Twitter followers

Sarah Killen, a.k.a. @LovelyButton, isn't anyone special: she's just an average 19 year old girl living in Michigan. But there is one thing that separates her for her peers - or anyone else for that matter - she's the only person whom Conan O'Brien is following on Twitter. Why, you may ask. Well, it's quite simple really. Conan just recently joined the Twitter nation after being let go by NBC, and in act of either boredom or kindness decided he was going to "change one person's life". Little did anyone know it would be as simple as him adding her to his following list. Seemingly from one day to the next she was now someone who's opinion mattered to over 25,000 twitter follorws, but the story doesn't there.

It's quite a remarkable story because y'see, Sarah and her fiance have been saving up for a small wedding in the fall but haven't been able to really come up with the dough. But now that she's become an internet celebrity over night she's received countless offers for a wedding dress, wine, and even a honeymoon. So to repay the man who unknowingly got the ball rolling, Sarah and her husband-to-be requested that Conan be the best man at their September wedding. It's an odd request but it's the one way they knew how to repay the one time Tonight Show host.
