Move Over Twitter - Google Buzz is Here

A couple of people I know were tweeting yesterday about Google coming up with some sort of status update project in the near future. What I didn't know was that they would announce something so soon. Introducing Google Buzz.

Interesting name.

Let's hope it doesn't become another hype train like Wave, but knowing people - I know they're going to flip out. It's coming out in waves as we speak.

Video: the Entire Twitter Development Cycle - Visualized

This is probably one of the neatest ways for any company to represent its "back-end" development, which a lot of us are not exposed to, even though we are versed in long nights bashing keyboards. The video portrays the avatars of the different Twitter developers and there are particles that float around and attach themselves to the visible developers. This means that that particular developer is working on that particle, which could represent a project based on HTML/CSS, Ruby or Java and once it starts floating around to other developers, I guess it means that there is some sort of collaboration between the two.

The Video and How it was made, after the break.

Twitter and Hovercards ?

"McFly, you bojo! Hoverboards don't work on water." - Oh, is that not what we're talking about? My bad. Well, onto the skinny...

Yesterday, Twitter announced on their blog the introduction of a new feature coming to the site, Hovercards. Simply hover your mouse over someone's @ twitter username and a profile card will show up giving you some basic info as well as options on retweeting, following, or mentioning. It sounds like a good since it cuts down on clicks and that's always a good thing to me.

The cards are being rolled out in waves, so go check now to see if you have access to them - if you don't then just be patient, they'll come.

Video: the Best Twitter app for iPhone - Twitbird

the TwitBird iPhone and iPod Touch app

This is simply supposed to be a great Twitter client for the iPhone or iTouch and should allow you to read and tweet with ease. Before I downloaded this app, I stared at the “download this app” screen in the app store and I thought to myself, “do I really need another Twitter app, or do I just have a weird fetish?”. After I tapped “Download now” purely out of curiosity, I soon realized after 10 minutes of using the app I decided to delete all my other Twitter apps and give this one a page all to its own.

Bill Gates Joins Twitter - World Stops to Acknowledge It

Microsoft Bob joins the Twitter nation. Wanna know how I found out about? Around 5 people I follow tweeted all around the same time that the news broke. I find that interesting.

A few moments later I thought I'd check out Bill's twitter feed; see if he ate anything interesting for lunch or something. I was a little shocked when I saw his most recent tweet at the time (his 4th all time) was addressed to @ryanseacrest.

Mr. Gates already has 150,000+ followers in less than one day.

Twitter Users Re-Enact "Home Alone" Word for Word, Tweet by Tweet

'Tis the season for Home Alone - one of my favorite movies ever. And what better way to celebrate the occasion than by re-enacting the entire movie by tweets. I heard about people doing collaborative storytelling with Twitter before, but this shows the creative practice in use. Kudos to all who're involved.
