Closest to the real deal renders of the iPhone 5 we've seen so far
T-minus one more month and counting ‘til the ‘supposed’ annual conference that Apple usually holds for iPod products will be going down — and with it the ‘supposed’ unveiling of the next iteration of the miracle-maker, the iPhone 5. We’ve heard stories, we’ve seen glimpses, but here’s your first real look at what might truly be what you’ll be holding very soon and boy does it look delicious.
Taken from Chinese schematics used to create cases for the handset that hasn’t even been seen by human eyes outside of the Apple compound, these renders give us an idea of how the return to the rounded backing looks when compared to the candy-bar design of the iPhone 4.
9 to 5 Mac also stapled onto its post the dimensions that have been thrown out for a while now:
The final dimensions of the new design are calculated to be: 4.33″ x 2.36″ and .27″ thickness at the top and .21″ at the bottom In comparison, the iPhone 4 dimensions are: 4.5″ x 2.31″ x .37″. So the new design is actually shorter than the existing iPhone 4, but slightly wider and thinner.
How this translates into the final version is yet to be seen, but it’ll be hard to imagine anything different at this point late in the game. A touchscreen that reaches from end to end horizontally is the main feature that we expect Apple to go with - that and an even higher resolution to the already impressive retina display (960 x 640) seen on the iPhone 4.
I guess we’ll just have to wait another month to see what all the fuss is about…
