Nintendo President - "3DS will get consistent software releases"

If you’re a Wii owner then you should be familiar with the all too often, unbearable spans of times between quality title releases. And it doesn’t help that from all of those hundreds of 3rd party games that are otherwise known as shovelware, only about 3 or 4 aren’t complete rubbish. Satorua Iwata, Nintendo’s President and CEO, promises that this will definitely not be the case with the upcoming 3DS.

Speaking to the Nihon Keizai Shimbun newspaper:

“It’s important that you be able to supply software with no pause[…] With the DS and Wii, following the titles that were released at launch, the momentum dropped when there was a gap in software releases. We’re making plans so that this type of thing won’t happen.” — Satoru Iwata

However, just one look at the sheer amount of games from all walks of life making the jump to the otherwise casual friendly handheld really gives people hope that there won’t be any dry spells. Titles which represent the best in their field — games such as Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil, Street Fighter, Tales of Abyss, just to name a few — will give people more reason than any other system before it to always be on the look out for great games constantly being stocked on store shelves.

The Nintendo 3DS releases February 26th in Japan, and in late March in the USA and EU.
