The Canadian DMCA will be reintroduced within six weeks

The Canadian DMCA will be reintroduced within six weeks

Everything has crumbled again, in terms of our rights on the internet and sharing media (of course). This new Bill won’t be introduced until June, but it will have dramatic repercussions once introduced.

This will be te most “anti-consumer copyright bill in Canadian history” says James Moore, Canadian Heritage Minister. There is a slew of bad things that are going to happen if us Geeks don’t mobilize, and stop the madness!  - Read more

3D FixPix game for the iPhone is brilliant

This is the brainchild of eBoy, which is obviusly very good an making apps - and man oh man is this awesome or what! The app works like this: you have a “picture” and it is made up of multiple layers. When you rotate and tilt the iPhone, you can line up the layers, but the epic part is that the whole game looks 3D. Once you have aligned the picture, you get to go to the next one, and so on and so forth. It should be available very soon

Demo - Try a simple demo of the game, in-browser

Farmville players outnumber real farmers, 60 to 1

Its no doubt that Farmville has reached such a large size - and gained such a large fanbase, that it could put many social networking sites to shame. Heck, at the moment Farmville is bigger than Twitter with its 62 Million registered users, so all I ask is when will the madness stop!

The New York Times reports that there are more Farmville players than actual Farmers in the United States, outnumbering them 60 to 1. What is more fascinating is that Philip Tan, director of the Singapore-M.I.T. Gambit Game Lab, goes on to say that “The whole concept of ‘I’m sick of this modern, urban lifestyle, I wish I could just grow plants and vegetables and watch them grow’” and that sitting in front of a virtual farm, in your house, for hours is very “therapeutic”. I can never get into this stuff, and I cant really afford to…

Very first non-English URLs go Live

Very first non-English URLs go Live

History has been made as the very first non-English URLs go live, and so far, we are not looking back.

Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates are the first countries to have URLs written in Arabic scripts. This advancement is the first step to allow web addresses in many scripts including Chinese, Thai and Tamil. Up until now, URLs have been Latin root only and this became very frusterating for countries with incorrect keyboards, lack of knowlege amung other challenges - Read More

Awesome Google Chrome speed tests

Awesome Google Chrome speed tests

I don’t know much about the practicality of measuring the speed between a potato shot out at high speeds and Google’s Chrome browser speed, but it’s fun as heck to watch.

Just to note, Google used a 15mb internet connection.

After watching the video I tried doing a simple test of my own; I entered a URL (Allrecipes.com) and counted on my fingers to see how long it would take to load up completely. To my dismay, the potato in my instance would’ve won by a landslide: It took a full 5 seconds.
