Skype App Update now allows 3G calls - limited time only

We’ve been waiting for this for quite sometime now, and it’s finally here. I checked my App updates earlier last night and, yes, Skype has updated their iPhone app to allow free Skype to Skype calls via the 3G network. Their blog, however, mentions that this free period will only be available for a short while:

Over the coming months we’ll be working out what pricing options might be […] In the meantime, Skype-to-Skype calls on 3G will be free until the end of 2010, so download and enjoy*. Skype-to-Skype calls over WiFi will remain free […]

Guy who Copied Digg Says 'Digg is Copying Twitter'

Reddit Co-Founder, Alexis Ohanian, says Digg is copying stuff from other popular sites - and that is somewhat true, but are they really copying other sites, and is that really a horrible thing? Alexis says that “this new version of digg reeks of VC meddling” and that “It’s a damned shame to see digg just re-implementing features from other websites.”

Why this is so shocking is because when Digg was launched in October 2011, over six months later, Ohanian started Reddit which was complete copy of Digg. Why Ohanian would crawl out on a limb like this is un-explainable - and his claims are completely hypocritical.

The Anti-Apple Flamewar Needs to Stop

Ever since we could type text on a screen, there has been a never ending argument - that has become a world wide flamewar, and the infamous debate known as “Mac vs PC”. Just yesterday, TUAW has decided to spill the contents of their hearts on a new article called “7 anti-Apple cliches that need to die”.

This may seem to be the perfect “chicken soup for the Mac lovers soul”, but if you really read the article and try to remember the different times that these “cliches” popped up in your life, you can see where TUAW is coming from. Even if you are a die hard PC lover, I really urge you to read this article because it will give you a glimpse into the other side, and give you another perspective.

Infamous 2 teased by Portuguese PlayStation Magazine

After the huge amount of rumors, including Sony’s registration of a domain name and voice actors confirming their return it seems that inFAMOUS 2 will finally see a reveal. Interestingly enough, it could finally be unveiled in the official Portuguese PlayStation magazine which is teasing the reveal with the picture in this article.

The text under what we are assuming are Cole’s eyes translates to  “The announcement of a great PlayStation 3 exclusive in the next ROPS.” We will hopefully see a formal reveal at E3 or in the aforementioned magazine in the coming weeks - Read more

Acer Stream shares its video recording capabilities, causes HD fans to rip their eyes out

Whoa, look at what’s stumbled out of the realm of Valhalla. It’s none other than the Acer Stream with its 1GHz Snapdragon, and 5-megapixel 720p video recording camera. Now its already gone through the FCC and passed a rigorous hands-on test, but now the fine folks of Vietnam — more specifically Ho Chi Minh City — have been kind enough to share some video footage taken from the phone itself. Alas, the footage uploaded to YouTube wasn’t in its true 720p HD, so we’re just going to go say it looks… well, like crap. Sorry guys there’s no other way of saying it. With that said, perhaps the next leak will reveal something overly exciting, but considering we live in the “now,” jump past the break to be utterly disappointed yourself.

Video - Dell Streak has an Indestructible Screen

NOTE - No gadgets were harmed in the making of this video.

Even though no gadgets were harmed, this will make any gadget-lover cringe. This is a stress test of the Dell Streak’s new indestructible screen, which is getting stabbed by a pen.

The screen is tough because of a new technology called Gorilla Glass, which is currently used in the Dell Adamo and lots of other devices as well - Read more

Samsung i8330 H2 leaked, will be the first feature phone with a 1GHz CPU

With Samsung averaging 1.2 new handsets a day, we wouldn’t put it past them to bring this little Vodafone infused LiMo handset to market. As the successor to Samsung’s 360 H1 — the i8330 H2 is one hell of a feature phone — said to have a 3.5-inch Super AMOLED WVGA display, and an 8-megapixel camera (complete with HD video recording) — this thing’s already better spec’d than most smartphones on the market. But best of all (and we’re bursting at the seems as we type this) for the first time in history a feature phone will contain a 1GHz Cortex A8 processor.(!) There’s no confirmed release date yet, but word on the street suggests it’ll launch on Vodafone in time for the World Cup.
