LG shows they can make a Windows 7 tablet too with the UX10

So, the HP slate may be dead, but Microsoft’s next big Windows 7 tablet looks to be the LG UX10. Boasting a 10.1-inch LED display, an Intel Atom Z530 CPU, 1GB of RAM, a 1.3-megapixel front facing camera, an SD card slot, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, and micro HDMI out — this thing should be more than enough to wow those who so desperately wanted an HP slate. – Read More

Intel announces dual-core Atom and 'Canoe Lake'

So what do you do when you’re already dominating the chipset world? You introduce dual-core Atom processors and a new platform, that’s what. Deep down in the depths of Taipei you’ll notice that Intel’s finally taken the plunge and decided to create dual-core Atom processors (it’s about time, Atom processors have been out for two years now). While it’s safe to assume these will be notably quicker than the single core Atom processors of today, Intel’s decided to keep that little bit of information close to their chest. Instead they said that they’ll support DDR3 RAM, offer similar performance to desktop dual-core Atoms, and offer similar battery life to current netbooks (in other words, battery life will range from crap to decent).

If a new processor doesn’t get your blood pumping then perhaps this might? It’s Intel’s latest innovative platform “Canoe Lake.” The platform can support single and dual-core Atom processors, whilst allowing for greater cooling without an elaborate cooling system. In other words you’ll be able to get 50% thinner systems (yes!). Unfortunately, “Canoe Lake” is nothing more than a reference guideline for OEMs to follow; so essentially you could end up with some pretty funky looking computers (quite unlike the 14mm thick one featured above).

Oh, we forgot to mention that the dual-core Atom is due to ship sometime next week. Cue the onslaught of Christmas gifts containing a dual-core Atom. Press release after the break.

Some may have never heard of the Scott Pilgrim comic book series, and if you haven’t you need get on that because there’s a cheesy movie based on it coming out soon, and it. is. awesome.

Sure, it’s got all those video game and comic book nods, references, and cliches that you at times shield the world from every knowing, but this here is a perfect moment to just let your hair down and simply geek out.

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World releases August 13th, 2010

Massive Hole In Guatemala Appears out of Nowhere

Massive Hole In Guatemala Appears out of Nowhere

Kids, this is what happens when you divide by Zero.

Joking aside, a shocking event happened in Guatemala which appears to be a sinkhole that managed to swallow a three story building and a house. At least one local newspaper is reporting one person dead, but authorities have not confirmed any deaths as of yet.

Gizmodo has some interesting info on the situation, and what a sinkhole is - Read more

"Quit Facebook" Campaign nabs 33,000 Confirmed Quitters

There’s been a whole lot of hoopla about Facebook and how they’ve managed their privacy settings, not only recently, but ever since the site’s inception. And with all the backlash coming from users it was only a matter of time until enough was enough, and so came a campaign called “Quit Facebook Day” that was dedicated to users who were committed to leaving the social networking bigot and starting fresh somewhere else or giving up altogether for now.

Yesterday, May 31st, was F-Day and with it more than 33,000 users and counting have given up the service. Are you one of them? Tell us your story and why.

Now, I’m not condoning the quiting or the joining of Facebook, but if you’re interested in QuitFacebookDay then the link following this article should help you get there.

Real Iron Man Suit

Real Iron Man Suit

If you have tried to build an Iron Man suit, it probably sucks compared to this one. Of course the weapons on the device do not work but who cares. It has the machine gun, opening and closing helmet, and it looks real!

This would sure be a great halloween costume!
