Woman Suing Google for Faulty Maps and Getting Run Over

Have you ever seen the episode of The Office when Michael Scott (Steve Carrel) drives his car into a lake because his GPS told him to do so? Well, that just about happened in real life… to a pedestrian. Back in January of this year, a woman was taking a walk in Utah using directions given to her by Google, and found herself not walking on pave sidewalk back rather on a rural highway, which Maps told her to take to get to her destination. Instead of backtracking and finding an alternative route she continued on that stretch of road until she was hit smack dab in the face (not literally) by an oncoming vehicle. She says she followed her directions to the t, so what went wrong? Well, apparently Google went wrong, since it told her to take that road. Now one could say that she was just dumb and had absolutely no common sense, but her complaint against the tech giant isn’t completely baseless.

Do Geeks use CD disk drives Anymore?

Do Geeks use CD disk drives Anymore?

I have not placed a CD in a disk tray for about 1 month, and the last time I did it was to install some crappy junk software for my camcorder.

I have not needed my disk drive in my PC, maybe because I don’t play a lot of games, but I think it’s because today, everything we collect, buy and consume is online. It is evident that there is a much bigger market for software online these days, and what we want to know is - when is the last time you used your CD disk drive?

Intel 'Oak Trail' wants to claim your tablet PCs in 2011

You don’t have to look very far to see that the tablet market is exploding, which is why it comes to no surprise that Intel’s decided to hop into yet another market. Behold Intel’s latest processing platform ‘Oak Trail.’ Don’t go thinking that Oak Trail is a sibling of Pine Trail (although that argument could be made) instead think of them as a more powerful Moorestown chipset. Actually, if we really wanted to get technical we’d say something along the lines of: “Oak Trail — Intel’s latest SoC platform — differs from Pine Trail because of added Lincroft and Whitney Point integration, ergo support for Windows 7, MeeGo, and Chrome OS.” Besides all that nerdery, Intel’s latest fanless platform is currently boasting 1080p HDMI support, longer battery life and the added ability of “thinner and innovative form factors” — that’s all pretty impressive if we say so ourselves. Just don’t go getting all excited yet, because these things aren’t due to ship until the first quarter of 2011. Press release after the break.

Google Dumps their Windows PC's for Mac and Linux

Well, this is a tad shocking, but it makes sense - which relates to the debris from China attacking Google, and some fingers being pointed at Windows, so because of that, the search Goliath is abandoning Windows due to grave concerns over security.

Google has been phasing out their use of Windows within the company, and is no longer giving Windows powered laptops to new employees. Instead, new-comers are given a choice between a new Macbook, or a PC sporting Linux. It isn’t yet very clear on the new policy, but I am sure this is going to pursue a few other businesses to do the same - a chain effect coming? maybe, but one thing is certain - there are other options besides Windows… even for huge businesses.

Video - The Secret Powers of Time and Technology

“By the time a boy is 21, he has spent at least 10,000 hours alone playing video games” - that is a pretty provoking fact, but what about the time spent on Facebook, Twitter and everything else the Internet has to offer?

People have discovered through 30 years of research, that there are 3 main “time zones” that people live in, broken up into 6 parts. There are the people who live in the past, the ones who live in the present, and the people who are aiming for the future. In this video, you will see how we humans could make, or destroy our own well being and health, just because of the way we poorly manage our time.
