See ya' later Microsoft Kin, you are outta here

Well, that’s the end of Microsoft’s little feature phone experiment. Can’t say we blame ‘em for pulling the plug — after all, both Kins weren’t exactly on the hot-handset-selling-list. As traditionally believed Microsoft’s chosen to focus on their saving grace (Windows Phone 7)

The HP / Palm buyout is officially completed

The HP / Palm buyout’s all done folks, that’s right – HP’s now $1.2billion poorer (or richer depending on how you look at it). Palm’s been shaping the smartphone world since 1992 and now their gone… kind of. Despite being part of the world’s largest computer manufacturer, we expect to see some pretty impressive stuff in the up coming months — perhaps even sooner now that they’ve essentially got unlimited resources — oh, and by “impressive stuff” we don’t mean webOS printers (although we are partial to the idea). Nevertheless, we’re looking forward to a steady barrage of webOS smartphones, tablets, e-readers… and whatever else Jon Rubenstein and his engineers can slap webOS on. Here’s to the future. Long live Palm!

Vapor4 iPhone 4 Case Puts All Bumper Cases to Shame

Vapor4 iPhone 4 Case Puts All Bumper Cases to Shame

The iPhone 4 is not the sturdiest device out there, and we really don’t think that those bumper cases help much. I mean, its just a slab of rubber, molded into a ring that snugly fits around the iPhone.

Meet the Vapor4 -  an inch thick bumper case made of anodized aluminum with a “special secret liner inside”. ElementCase says that reception is not reduced, and it should fix the antenna issue.

T-Mobile scraps its Sidekick line »

T-Mobile scraps its Sidekick line

Joining Microsoft’s Kin in the we-were-scrapped-this-week club, we welcome T-Mobile’s ever-successful Sidekick line. As of tomorrow (July 2) the Sidekick LX 2009 will no longer be available for purchase. If all this news of cancelled feature phones has gotten you down, don’t fret because T-Mobile says it’s working on “the next chapter of storied Sidekick franchise.” See ya’ later Sidekick, you’ll always have a special place in the heart of teenagers everywhere — at least until they get an iPhone, EVO, or Droid X and forget about you.

AT&T / Apple sued over iPhone 4 antenna flaw

The new AT&T / Apple suit focuses on dropped calls and poor data performance (surprise!), and the couple that is complaining has backing evidence which includes their own experiences with the iPhone 4, along with articles from sites like Gizmodo and BGR. Nothing tells how this will turn out - Read more

Closed Beta for World of Warcraft: Cataclysm Has Begun

Closed Beta for World of Warcraft: Cataclysm Has Begun

Finally! Blizzard has just announced that the closed beta for WoW Cataclysm, the biggest MMO on the planet, has begun. While there aren’t many people involved at this stage, the Non-Disclosure Agreement has been lifted so many sites like MMO Champion, Tankspot and WoW Head are getting some great footage of the Beta builds currently implemented.

As a seasoned WoW player, I couldn’t be more excited by this expansion, which redesigns the entire game, zone by zone along with raising the level cap from 80 to 85 among many other things. We don’t have a release date yet but expect the game, hopefully, by the end of this year!
