Mount Everest gets 3G Mobile Internet Access

In spite of 3G getting “old”, and 4G coming into the mix, Nepali mobile network operator Ncell has installed the first 3G base station at the base camp of Mount Everest so that fellow climbers, visitors and residents can access the internet and make calls. To test out the new facility, Ncell made the world’s highest video call at 17,388 feet. That means this is 50% more awesome than originally thought.

How to make a Stormtrooper mask out of 2 milk jugs

Possibly one of the cheapest ways to create your own Stormtrooper mask is to use 2 milk jugs and a little creativity.

It’s Halloween as you know, and since people seem to have their costumes ready (and you don’t) you need something quick! Time is running short to get a costume pulled together, so in a last ditch effort, you can create your own Stormtrooper outfit and get some major geek points in the process.

You’ll need to spray-paint the mask white, and use tape to add vents and lenses to the mask — Give it a try!

An adventure using the Digg homepage - Errors and broken axles

It has been a long journey for Digg — a new CEO, letting half their employees go and possibly gaming their own system — but nothing beats the tsunami of errors you will encounter while viewing the website. Now I understand that it’s hard scaling a website, and it has been impossible for Digg to implement new features for a long time and that’s why they moved to a new backend — but this one seems to be worse.

White iPhone 4 has disappeared from Apple online store - Canceled?

So, a few days ago it was announced that the white iPhone 4 would be delayed until Spring 2011, and you may have noticed that Apple has removed the white iPhone 4 from their online store. This is not a good sign for those of you waiting for a white iPhone 4. Also, prepare your flame-war retardant gear.

Time Traveler using a Cell Phone in 1928? - Video

Time Traveler using a Cell Phone in 1928? - Video

We saw this bubbling in the bowels of the interwebs, so we decided to post it here — this is a clip from Charlie Chaplin’s 1928 film “The Circus” where you see a man (or very rough lady) waddling down the street, talking to themselves. The strange part is that they seem to be holding something to their head, and they are holding it just like a cell phone.

Now, a lot would argue that they were just scratching their head, or shading their eyes from the sun, but after reviewing the clip, we noticed that after they passed the zebra and turned their head, they were clearly talking into their hand (or a phone).

What do you think? — Is this a time traveler?

Candles suck - This Halloween Pumpkin has LED's

Candles suck - This Halloween Pumpkin has LED's

Candles suck for many reasons — they can blow out when it gets windy, they can burn your pumpkin and they spill wax all over the place. LEDs on the other hand are energy efficient, colorful and low heat so they keep your pumpkin cool and add some animated epicness to your front porch. This mod was thought up by Hack a Day.
