The New Beastly MacBook and Mac Mini - Affordable? Yes!

MacBook

First off the new MacBook with its new "Brilliant" LED-Backlit Display, built-in-battery up to 7 hours, multi-touch glass trackpad, NVIDIA Core 2 Duo processor, up to 4GB of memory and up to 500GB's of hard drive makes it seem like a Macbook Pro. Now some people will say this isn't much of an update, but I think for the MacBook it's a nice jump.

It basically took the old MacBook and made it almost as powerful, if not more in certain ways, than the MacBook Pro. The extra 500GB hard drive is perfect for people who travel and want to take everything with them, but also for those who always wants their stuff with them at all times. I have a MacBook Pro with a 200GB hard drive and I constantly have to keep deleting stuff or moving a bunch of data to external hard drives.

A new thing Apple is doing is putting the non-removable battery to make it last up to 7 hours. And what happens when the battery dies? You just pay $130 and Apple will replace it. I don't think that's too bad really? The new MacBook is available NOW at a $999 baseline.

You can see the new MacBook in all its glory here in our new Gallery

Mac Mini

This thing is an amazing little beast this time around. Many people though Apple kind of gave up on it, but not with this release! The Mac Mini comes in 3 different versions: 160GB, 320GB, and 500GB for $599, $799, and $999. Also, you can buy the 500GB version and use it with the Snow Leopard Server! This means you can host a website off it, use it to host multiple accounts on all your computers, or use it as a GIANT file share network in your home or small office. The memory is just like the MacBook with up to 4GB. The Mac Mini also allows you to burn DVD's and CD's, hook up to 2 monitors at one time, and use as your Entertainment Center by connecting it to your TV.

Both these two updates are fantastic if you use them or if you want to try something new with a Mac. Both I think are affordable and pack a lot of punch in them.

Microsoft wants to bump up the cost of Xbox Live Gold

Xbox's market analyst Michael Pachter wants to bump up the cost of Xbox Live Gold from $50 to $100 as early as 2011. While it's about a year and a half off, still, why? I can't even make sense of his quote:

"You can't hook into Xbox Live Gold if he's playing on a PC. That's the other problem - you really want to hook every gamer who has a 360, you want them to buy all their games on 360, play everything multiplayer, pay you 50 bucks a year so that, in a couple of years, it's a 100 bucks a year."

So basically what he's saying is... He wants to bump up the price of the 360 either when there's enough of a customer base, or to attract more people. Neither makes sense (one less than the other) because last I checked, if you wanted a larger customer base and keep it, you lowered your prices. What's also upsetting is that most of Xbox Live's features are free on other platforms. Namely PCs, in which Steam offers the best substitute for Xbox Live.

Apple store is down for updates, new iMac and more on the way?

Can't tell you what, obviously. But there's something brewing. Gruber doesn't know about it, but the people we care about are being briefed in advance. Stay close to your Mac or iPhone, and have your credit card ready.

These are the words of "Fake Steve jobs" mentioned in yesterday's article about this rumor that Apple is coming out with new iMacs today. According to Apple's retail online store, they "will be back soon" and we are excited!

The speculations include new iMacs and plastic MacBooks, revved Mac Minis (including one that runs OS X Server), a new multitouch "Magic Mouse" and some sort of multitouch desktop trackpad accessory.

Stand by and come back to this page for more updates.

BREAKING: Apple to launch new iMacs, Macbooks and Mac Mini's tomorrow?

Can't tell you what, obviously. But there's something brewing. Gruber doesn't know about it, but the people we care about are being briefed in advance. Stay close to your Mac or iPhone, and have your credit card ready.

That is the exact words of "Fake Steve Jobs" over at his secret diary. The rumor including Apple releasing new iMacs and plastic MacBooks, revved Mac Minis (including one that runs OS X Server), a new multitouch "Magic Mouse" and some sort of multitouch desktop trackpad accessory.

We will wait it out and see what happens, and tidy up the mess. Also Apple is expected to release a foot-powered egg slicer and a multitouch pen.

Gallery: Motorola Droid shows up for some wicked pics

Today the Motorola Droid showed up for some really nice pics taken by yours truly BGR. The cool part is, this is real and ready for production.

iT can to everything the iPhone can't do, according to the commercial and it is gearing up to be the next "iPhone killer" (oh how origional).

It is the official brainchild of Google, Verizon and Motorola and has been under wraps for the past while until some guys from Verizon showcased it on the red carpet.

It looks like a mix between a iPhone, Palm Tungsten E and a Zune HD. Its very nice looking, and this thing may have Apple cornered, in terms of features. With a reported, powerful OMAP3430 processor, 5 megapixel camera, slideout QWERTY keyboard and touch screen, all housed in a super-compact package and running Android 2.0.

So enjoy the gallery:

Are We Marked As Dogs By The Rich?

Now I know T3ch H3lp is about Tech and new things coming to help and improve our life but i found something that is a big issue in America and is a little offbeat. Most countries other than the U.S. have FREE health care and for the most, it works great! We sadly in the U.S. don't and are currently fighting for or against it.

The story I found is a perfect example of WHY we NEED either a national system OR massive reform. Besides millions of Americans being thrown out of their homes, being bankrupted by medical bills, their are other sad stories about people who DO have healthcare like Mr. Pearl.

Mr. Pearl is a 37 year-old muscular dystrophy patient who lives in the state of New York. In the state of New York, it is against the law for insurers to discriminate against individuals who summit large claims. So when Mr. Pearl stated his high-cost claim to his insurance company Guardian, they decided to cancel its entire line of coverage in the state of New York because his treatment required about $1 Million a year. In an e-mail between executives and obtained by the Washington Times, it said one executive referred to patients like Mr. Pearl as "dogs" the company could just "get rid of".

What has the U.S. come to when people who need help the most are denied by people sitting in their big billion dollar mansions, private jets, and more as they send people to the death beds?

I believe that if not a nationalized healthcare plan, SOMETHING MUST be changed. Oh and how do i relate this to tech you might ask, the simple use of e-mail to obtain the letter between executives, the tech used to help the man save a life and wondering how it really cost that much!

Think about it.

Bioware Might've Slipped Up on Mass Effect 2 for PS3

Updated on Oct 16, 2009 by Registered CommenterBrandon Davenport

Earlier this month it was rumored that Mass Effect 2 was heading for PS3. Presumably posted on one of EA's very own international sites, EA said it was a mistake and took whatever that was off. However, Bioware this time may have slipped up. Pre-orders for Bioware's new game, Dragon Age: Origins on PS3 includes "an unlockable item for Mass Effect 2". At least that's what this Amazon.com posting says.

Although of course, this might've been a poor example of copy/pasting on Amazon's part.

More Mass Effect news After the break!
