Apple's Tablet is the "iPad" - BREAKING

It's finally here. No, not the iTablet, iSlate, or iBook. Simply the iPad. This is Apples latest creation and boy oh boy -- the reasons why we should begin using this thing are slowly unraviling and its clear that this could be a game changing device, but what game does it change? -- Sure it is pretty and well thought out, like the fact it has a thick frame around it so you can hold it without mucking up what is on the screen, and it feels just like an iPhone, but what you really want to know is what is the iPad?

Specs

CPU - custom 1GHz Apple "A4" chip developed by the P.A. Semi team

Screen - 9.7-inch capacitive touchscreen IPS LCD display

Weight and size - Half-inch thick and weighs just 1.5 pounds

Storage - 16, 32, and 64GB sizes

Connectivity - 30-pin Dock connector, Bluetooth

Wireless - 802.11n WiFi, and 3G

Battery Life - 10 hours video, 1 month standby

A month's worth of stand by time?!

Price and Availablity

At&t - Cancel at anytime 3G Data deal:

$14.99 - 250MB plan, $29.99 - Unlimited plan, Free use of At&t WiFi hotspots

iPad Price tag comes in two models; 3G enabled, and WiFi only:

WiFi only: 16GB - $499, 32GB - $599, 64GB - $699

3G +WiFi: 16GB - $629, 32GB - $729, 64GB - $829

Availability:

Late March - April 2010

Shipping in 60 days worldwide for WiFi only units... 30 days after that for 3G enabled iPads. Which makes it into the ballpark of late March for WiFi only, and late April for 3G.

Software and Apps

It will have the ability to run iPhone apps and be able to run them in either a pixel-for-pixel window, or scaled to a pixel-doubled fullscreen. Good news Developers! You can also optimize your apps for the new screen size using an updated version of the iPhone OS SDK, which is available today.

The main focus right now is the browser, apps and reading. The browser will feel the same as the iPhone, but with a matte silver finish and a revised UI, much like the Safari browser native to Mac OS X. Also there will be an optimized version of iWork for you to use on the new iPad, and it looks really nice. There are multitudes of different keyboards for specific tasks, such as a date and time keyboard, as well as special keyboards for entering data into iWork.

iWork pricing will be broken up into 10 dollar segments for every familliar application. $9.99 for Pages,$9.99 for Numbers... etc. This is a real supprize for me because now being able to actually do real document work on the go is amazing and this is a huge step in Apple revoloutionizing the Tablet market.

Also there is a new iBooks application for reading "iBooks" (not eBooks) and it is "one of the best UI's we have seen".
