PS3 Y2K is Over... for now

Good news everyone: the PS3 Y2k scare is now over - Sony confirms it on their blog:

We are aware that the internal clock functionality in the PS3 units other than the slim model, recognized the year 2010 as a leap year. Having the internal clock date change from February 29 to March 1 (both GMT), we have verified that the symptoms are now resolved and that users are able to use their PS3 normally.

If the time displayed on the XMB is still incorrect, users are able to adjust time settings manually or via the internet. If we have new information, we will update you through the PlayStation.Blog orPlayStation.com.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

It's a good thing that Mega Man 10 came out on the Wii today or otherwise I may have been ticked that I was missing out on a day of Heavy Rain playtime.  But alas all is well in the land of Sony again, so you can all breathe a sigh of relief as the PS3 has seen the worst of its days... for now. It did come as a surprise to many though, as gamers everywhere wondered why their beloved paper weight... err, I mean, console bread winner succumbed to a vegetative state - much like its rival's RROD condition.

Windows Phone 7 Series Themes for WinMo handsets

With a barrage of new devices and operating systems in store for 2010, consumers can often feel overwhelmed. Forking out cold hard cash to fill your gadget addiction is all well and good, but just how practical is it? In an attempt to save money XDA-Developers Jaxbot and LeSScro have rolled their own Windows Phone 7 Series themes, available for previous Windows Mobile handsets.

Jaxbot’s skin is still fairly slow and buggy however, it does provide you with some Windows Phone 7 Series lust. It currently includes information on live tiles, and the ability to see upcoming appointments via the lock screen. The latter -- being LeSScro’s theme -- provides you with sport times, dates, notifications via the lock screen and profile information with the added bonus of transitional animations. There’s also the inclusion of hubs and an application launcher. Whilst these themes are good for the moment, come Windows Phone 7 Series’ official launch many will opt for the real deal.

PS3 Only Does Nothing - Funny GIF

Updated on Jun 28, 2010 by Registered CommenterBrandon Davenport

This is one of those funny Gifs where it not only makes you laugh, but it actually makes sense. Right now the PS3 actually does nothing because of a major hardware problem that started with "fat" models, but has now spreading to the entire PS3 line. People are getting an 8001050F error which does not allow players worldwide from signing into PSN, accessing trophy information, and even playing particular games offline. More info and Funny GIF after the break!

How not to be a noob at Battlefield: Bad Company 2

With the release of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 looming over the horizon, there's no doubt that many bored Modern Warfare "experts" will be giving the game a try. Some may have played the beta, some may have not; the point is that most will be terrible at the game if they don't change their tactics.

Pixel Enemy has posted up a video entitled "How not to be a Noob at Battlefield: Bad Company 2" which happens to be both entertaining and very, very true. Check out the video below (some NSFW language is in the video)

Google now owns Picnik - We are happy

Even though you may feel - upset and mad at Google for picking on poor little Picnik, there are a few things you need to know. First off, the Picnik crew is very happy to be acquired by Google for a few reasons. Also, this means a safer place for Picnik to exist because they are under the roof of Google.

"It means we can think BIG. Google processes petabytes of data every day, and with their worldwide infrastructure and world-class team, it is truly the best home we could have found." - Picnik said on their company blog today, and by how they tell us, this is a good thing. Don't expect any changes yet, but there will be new stuff coming.

UK Game - stopping 'fat' PS3 trade-ins?

Major UK video game retailer Game has reportedly stopped accepting "fat" PS3's as trade-ins. As most of us know there has been a major issue with all "fat" PS3's worldwide, as Ricardo reported earlier. Apparently PS3 fans who have tried to trade-in their "fat" PS3 consoles to Game have been turned away.

Game say that this is not true and they are encouraging people to trade-in their old PS3's as they seem to think it is a network issue not a hardware issue.
