Left 4 Dead 2 DLC "The Passing" Out This Week
As if we didn’t get enough news with the announcements of Bionic Commando: Re-Armed 2 and Marvel vs Capcom 3, if you head over to the Left 4 Dead blog, Valve has announced that “The Passing” DLC will be releasing this Thursday for the low price of FREE on the PC, and for 560 Microsoft Points on 360.
The DLC contains one new campaign, where the original L4D survivors collide with the L4D2 characters, with Valve revealing that one character from the original group (that’s Bill, Francis, Louis and Zoey) didn’t make it, and won’t be appearing in “The Passing.” Looking at the “movie poster” you can see the outlines of the original survivors and there are, indeed, only three. I thought it was pretty obvious looking for the missing outline on the poster picture but apparently Valve is changing the picture every day, with a different Survivor not showing up on the poster. I wonder who it could be?
It’s not all bad news though, the DLC will also contain:”a new co-operative challenge mode of play, support for infected bot play in Versus, a new “uncommon common” zombie class (the fallen survivor), melee weapon (golf club), and firearm (M-60).” But the most interesting new addition to the game is something called “Mutations,” which are weekly events that alter existing game modes. These can range from Realism Versus, which ensures that no Survivors will ever… well survive, to the Chainsaw Massacre, where you only have chainsaws with unlimited gasoline. All I can say to that is, hell yes!
There’s no word on when the DLC for L4D, which will detail the events of one of the original survivor’s death, and the remaining three’s adventures to get to the events of “The Passing”, will be released, however it was planned to be around one month after “The Passing” releases.
