Eurocom introduces X8100 Leopard gaming laptop

Eurocom, a company specializing in high end desktop replacement laptops, has just released the X8100 Leopard which would be better described as a rhinoceros than a leopard because of its 18.4-inch 1920 x 1080 screen. It tips the scale at only twelve pounds but that weight is justified by the Intel Core i7 Extreme CPU, your choice of SLI or CrossFireX graphics configurations, and room for up to four hard drives allowing for up to 3 TB of storage. Similar to AlienFX of Alienware computers, the Leopard allows for LED customization of “hotkeys, front and rear cooling vents, touchpad surround, and the back cover logo.” You can color these areas blue, green, red, white or yellow depending on what tickles your fancy. Pricing starts at $2090 and is sure to rocket skywards with all those options.

Grab it now - and configure it too!

Xbox Kinect Priced at $149 on Amazon

Microsoft didn’t announce a price during their press conference at E3 on Monday morning for the Kinect, but that hasn’t stopped Amazon from listing one of this year’s hottest gaming items at $149. We’re not sure on the validity of this price since it’s not confirmed yet by Microsoft, however, it’s already become the second highest selling item on Amazon right now next to the Xbox Live 12 Month Gold Card.

I think this is a pretty fair prince, considering what Kinect says it’s going to do and such. Though I’m a bit reluctantly myself to throw down over 100 bucks for something I’m not sure works as well as people are hoping. From what I saw from all the people using the Kinect games and stations, it wasn’t 100% reliable, but then again the Wii also has it’s limitations and people bought that like hot cakes. I guess time will tell. Xbox Kinect releases Novemeber 4th.

The Altek Leo: bridging the gap between cameraphones and point-and-shoots

It’s a camera, no wait, it’s an Android powered smartphone… err, on second thought, it’s both. What you’re looking at here is Altek’s attempt to bridge the gap between cameraphone, and your typical point-and-shoot. Beneath that somewhat stylish camera-esque exterior, its got all the typical smartphone bells and whistles: i.e. a WVGA display, 802.11n WiFi, support for HSPA, and the piece de resistance… a 14-megapixel CCD with 3x optical zoom and true 720p video recording functionality. If the Altek Leo’s got you all hot and bothered; jump past the break for the full presser.
