Nexus One running Android 2.3 Gingerbread up for sale on Craigslist

If you lived in any place other than the Bay Area, you would most likely deem this as complete BS. But living in the Silicon Valley, I’ve learned a bit more about strange items for sale online. Today, we’ve got a Nexus One supposedly running Android 2.2 (aka Gingerbread). Now how the heck did this lucky fella get ahold of the unreleased OS? After contacting the seller, it turns out his brother works at Google and gave him the ROM as a gift. If everything turns out as planned, we should have a video preview of Gingerbread on this phone up on the site soon. In the meantime, $400 will admit you one Gingerbread running Nexus One if you live in the Bay Area.

Epson Printer Pit Against an Ariel Atom Racecar

Commercials like this are just so creative. In this one, Epson advertises the speed of their printers by putting it up against a $50,000 race car. How does this work? The printer has to print scale replica of the track while the Ariel Atom 3 races around the same track. Engineers stand around suspensefully keeping a close eye on the progress, making your heart thump every second of the video.

HP Slate Get's Official at $799

The HP Slate that we thought had been killed months ago is now official. Apparently the murderer was wrongfully accused and HP Slate cleverly hid in HP’s labs living off of canned spam. Just kidding. But the HP Slate has finally gone official and will cost $799 - 200 bones more than the iPad. Read on for more details and a video of the enterprise tablet!

MacBook Air Torn Down by iFixit - Really, Really Hard to Open

And the results are in from iFixit! The new 11 inch MacBook Air scores a low 4/10 on the repairability scale. Why? Because Apple specifically made sure people weren’t screwing around with their laptop. Yeah we’re referring to the 5-point Security Torx screws the company used to hold the unibody laptop together. Some noteworthy omissions include the IR sensor, battery status LED, and flip open port door (the latter allowing for an extra USB port). The RAM and storage drive are all proprietary so don’t expect any easy self repairs - you’ll be taking this one back to the Apple Store — More over at iFixit

Palm Pre 2 Official - We Want the Samsung Orphan

I’m going to say this right now - The Palm Pre 2 is a total suckfest. The leaks we saw and discussed were real. No one cares about the 1 Ghz processor or 512 MB of RAM nor the 5 megapixel camera. The 16 GB of internal storage isn’t a big whoop either.

However, what we really do care about is WebOS 2.0. The revamped OS will feature better multitasking and a slightly revamped interface among other features such as Flash 10.1 and Skype Mobile for Verizon. As for availability, you’ll have to wait a couple of months for it to land on Verizon. That Samsung Orphan sounds pretty good right about now no? Check out a hands on video of WebOS 2.0 after the break for full details!
