Google confirms Ice Cream will bring Android 3.0 UI to smartphones

Google has received a lot praise for its work on Android 3.0 aka Honeycomb. With several design elements translating better to larger touch based devices, the company has continued to turn heads at Mobile World Congress thanks to the vast amount of tablets running said software. While Honeycomb may be for tablets, what of the smartphone? A recent article published on Phone Scoop, confirms that Google is indeed bringing parts of Honeycomb to smartphones through its next iteration of Android aka Ice Cream.

New features coming to Windows Phone 7: Multitasking, IE9, Kinect and loads more

It’s been a year since Microsoft took the stage at Mobile World Congress 2010, announcing their split from the megalomaniac known only as Windows Mobile 6.5. This year, taking the stage once again, the company finally announced its first official update plans for Windows Phone 7. Planning to build atop their current ecosystem, the update known on the street only as ‘Mango,’ is due to hit devices this coming March.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Galaxy S II unveiled in Barcelona 

Mobile World Congress officially kicks off today in beautiful Barcelona, Spain. However, without hesitation (and a day early), Samsung announced two new devices. As a follow up to their popular Galaxy S line, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S II, a faster, larger variant to previous models. Along with their newest smartphone, Samsung also announced their follow up tablet, the Galaxy Tab 10.1. Much like the Galaxy S II, the Tab is a larger, faster variant of the 7-incher launched late last year.

Bye bye Intel: Nokia no longer needs you, its got Microsoft now

Analysts in the know were quick to judge who gained exponentially from the “alliance” forged between computational conglomerates, Nokia and Microsoft. In every partnership there’s always a loser, lose can’t be avoided. However, the loser in this agreement is neither Microsoft nor Nokia. No, instead, James Kendrick amongst other technology journalists, are claiming that the loser in this little love bubble is chipset giant Intel. — More after the break!

Microsoft and Nokia enter into a partnership, plan to make sweet, sweet WP7 handsets

For the past several weeks it has been strongly rumoured that conglomerates Nokia and Microsoft would enter into a partnership, by way of which, the faltering Finnish phone manufacturer would adopt Windows Phone 7. Now that Nokia’s Capital Market Day is well under way, I’m proud to say: Nokia’s beginning to get their house in order, they’ve finally adopted Windows Phone 7.
