Newell: Fight piracy by offering better service than what pirates are downloading

In the world of gaming there’s not always a clear cut way to make money. Our time today is much different than decades past where ones could simple cash in on a quick side-scroller for kids to play. DLC, piracy, free-to-play models, and expansions have changed the way developers make and lose money. But one studio in particular seems to have figured out the in’s and out’s of what makes consumers tick, as well as the best means to fight against the losses incurred by piracy. We’re talking about the one and only Valve, headed by Gabe Newell. — More after the break!

Anonymous uses skills to attack and release usernames of those involved in pedophile network

Alright, so we all are aware that Anonymous hasn’t always used their Justice League-type skills in the most wisest fashion possible — like that ill-concieved attack on Sony which brought PSN service to a screeching hault for almost an entire month. Yeah, well like many superheroes who need time to developy their crime fighting skills, Anon has finally found an outlet to show off its muscle, taking down the scum of the internet down; pedophiles and their innumberable underground sites and networks. — More after the break!

You've got Assassin's Creed in my Soul Calibur 5! -- (Video)

If you haven’t heard the news yet, Ezio Auditore of Assassin’s Creed 2 and beyond will be guest starring in the next installment of Soul Calibur. But before we get into reviewing that puppy, did you happen to catch last night’s 60 Minutes all on the topic of Steve Jobs and his biography? If not then no worries, we got the entire hour of it right here for you to watch. — More after the break!

Nokia Maps with 3D buildings and trees, answer to Google Maps

Google Maps is incredible with satellite views, streetview and the clarity of the images, not to mention all the awesome tools that have been built using Google Maps. There hasn’t been another map service that offers something unique outside of what Google Maps already offers, until now. Along comes Nokia 3D Maps using WebGL to turn a flat world into one filled with 3D buildings, trees and rocks — all running inside your browser (Google chrome only for now). More after the break!

Nearly a year after Nintendo’s 3DS launch, Sony is now ready to release their PSP successor, known as the PS Vita. Well, today SCEA’s Jack Tretton announced the fateful day; February 22nd of the Mayan calendar year 2012. — More after the break!

Founders of Skype and Rdio are bent on taking Netflix on with VDio

For the past couple of years Hulu and Netflix have been, for the most part, our only options for streaming the latest movies and tv shows to our set-top devices (Roku, Xbox, PS3, HTPC). But what if there was a third player in the game? Someone who wanted to shake things up by offering newly released movies and tv shows that neither of the former two services can provide? Well, that’s what VDio is hoping to do. — More after the break!
