Wii Review: Silent Hill Shattered Memories

Summary

While I'm waiting for some bigger games to come out, I decided to revisit an older title from the last year. I had heard about Silent Hill Shattered Memories from a few friends who were telling me that I had to play this game. It used the Wii's strengths to it's advantage and was a truly atmospheric game on the Wii. While this intrigued me, I didn't get the chance to try it out until now. Does it live up to these high hopes? Or does it fall flat?

Video - Avatar Copied Pocahontas, the Movie Trailer

Remember when we wrote that article about Avatar copying Pocahontas? Read it, then watch this and it will make everything clear. The just is, Avatar has the exact same plot as Pocahontas -- Man and team go to island with natives on it. They have something the men want and the men want to get rid of the natives (nav'vi) but one of the men ends up falling in love with a girl native and then they fall in love, blah blah blah.

The weird part is, if you read that post, the detail that is related to Avatar is crazy, like the "Tree of Souls" or less known as the "Grandmother Willow" in Pocahontas is a weird similarity. Prepare to be amazed/disappointed.

HUMAVIPS humanoid project could lead to robots with social skills

Remember that robot apocalypse thing everyone has been talking about? Yeah, its coming in three years. Three years is how long it will take the HUMAVIPS project to start developing robots, or humanoids with human like social skills, which could lead to two things. Compassionate, friendly and understanding robots that can cry with your daughter when her boyfriend dumps her, or hoards of enraged humanoids who want to stab our eyes with letter openers because we forgot to compile their dreams or something. Expect mayhem...

Video - World Builder CGI inspired

This is a Vimeo classic with over 1.5 Million views which is outstanding, especially on the smaller video site, Vimeo. It is truly more of an experience seeing this guy just effortlessly build, sculpt and paint an entire town by using the power of imagination and technology. Its created by filmmaker Bruce Branit and he also took place as the co-creator of '405'. The video was shot in one day, but it took 2 years of post production to bring it to life.

Video: Symbian^4 debuts

Unlike the video debut of Symbian^3, Symbian^4 fails to make you say wow. Shown in its debut video S^4 can be classed as another atypical touchscreen user interface. Playing catch up with the newer mobile operating systems i.e. Google's Android and Apple's iPhone, S^4 allows for a trio of home screens in which the end user is able to customise with an assortment of widgets, clocks and weather applications. It's noted to be touch-centric and while this is all well and good, the lack of innovation leaves me wondering where Symbian will head in the future.

Will Symbian^4 recoup the masses? The short answer is No. Until the folks over at the Symbian Foundation realise that they need to start innovating and not end up copying, further iterations will prove to be anachronistic.
