Images - the History of Video Game Studios

Video game studios have merged, been acquired, or straight out dissolved in some cases, but whatever happened to them they will always be remembered in history. For you see, their games live in in the memories of those who’ve played them, and continue to play them. This flow chart tells their stories - See it HERE

Video - Modern Warfare 2 "Stimulus Package" Teaser Trailer

As the release of the first map pack approaches for Modern Warfare 2 - Infinity Ward has released a trailer showing off each of the three new maps: “Bailout”, “Storm”, and “Salvage”, as well as two old favourites from Call of Duty 4: “Crash” and “Overgrown.”

The Stimulus Package will be releasing on Xbox LIVE first on March 30th with it following on the PS3 and PC after it sometime later. These maps will run you quite a pretty penny - costing 1200 Microsoft Points ($15) which is a lot more than the usual 800 Points ($10).

Is the iPad the future of Printed Media?

Will the iPad be the unavoidable future of print media? DigitalTrends asked that question in a thought provoking article in which they have paper magazines looking to Apple’s new shiny toy to move readership away from blogs and back onto their own editorials and journalism.

There’s a battle ensuing right now - between copy and paste formatted blogs, and the actual journalists who go out and get the original stories. One that caught my eye in particular was the story of Ian Shapira, a Washington Post editor, and his run in with Gawker. Like that account, the average reader doesn’t usually care where the news comes from, but rather only is concerned on where they can get a one-stop-shop site for everything that THEY care about. Magazines and other various publications want those readers back, and why wouldn’t they - they’re the ones who go out and actually get the story to begin with! So with the introduction of the iPad and its new sleek design and ability to make beautiful splash layouts, printed media is hoping that Apple can be their savior.

Sports Illustrated, Wired, and VIV Mag are just some of the few beginning publications who are welcoming the transition from paper to digital. Which if the iPad thoroughly brings in new adopters, we may see a full switch to digital media one day. Imagine all the money that would be saved from mass production of paper magazines, not to mention the positive effect it would have on the environment.

T-Mobile HD2 can be yours for $100 thanks to Amazon

The HTC HD2 is one magical device - Selling out across the board, it’s clear that American consumers desire a handset which touts a 1GHz Snapdragon and a massive 4.3-inch display.  And for only $200 you could walk away with your very own; however, if that price point doesn’t float your boat then Amazon’s got you covered. For $99.99 with a new 2-year contract you can be a proud owner of what is undoubtedly Windows Mobile’s last real hurrah.

Microsoft holding two Xbox press events at E3

Microsoft really thinks they’ve got something with Project Natal. So much so that they’re going to be holding two press events at this year’s E3. No, not two press conferences - they’ve made it clear that’s not what it’s going to be:

“As you may have heard, our traditional news briefing is on the morning of Monday, June 14. Additionally, as a kick off to the week, we will be hosting a can’t-miss exclusive “Project Natal” World Premiere experience designed for all ages and demonstrating the universal appeal of Xbox 360 on Sunday evening.

“We’ll have more details on both events and additional media opportunities for Xbox 360 at E3 in the coming months, but wanted to get the word out now as you make your plans.”

Think Xbox’s putting too many eggs into one basket? I would hate for them to fall flat on their face with this new controller-less technology. I mean, there’s just so much potential into concepts like voice commands, gesture based movements, and facial recognition that it makes Natal so much more than just a gaming experience. Which has me thinking, Microsft has definitely invested WAY more into this than Sony has with their Move motion controller. It’s going to be an exciting event this year for sure! If last year’s E3 was the trailers before the movie, than this year will be the full length feature film.

Turn any Text you type into ASCII Images

How bad ass is this? It’s a T3ch H3lp logo in ASCII! - What is ASCII you ask? ASCII is what you see when you type on your keyboad like letters, numbers, slashes, dots, dashes, and smilie faces. ASCII is the way our computers can understand what our keyboards are telling them to do, through a type of “code” which is in Hexadecimal. For example 4B is K, and 6F is o, but enough of that… let’s turn some stuff into ASCII!

This nifty little tool allows you to type in anything you want and then magically turn it into any font you want (they have maybe 120 of them), including the one I used above in my ASCII logo, called Larry3D. You can also edit different settings to change the way it appears, and you can even turn your text into binary. Nifty!
