The best HDTV for under $500 bucks

The best HDTV for under $500 bucks

A loyal reader of Switched emailed their editors and asked, “What is the best HDTV I can get for under 500 bucks?” He mentions that he just moved in and that there is a big empty space where a TV should be. It was a tall order, but the Switched team knew they could find something.

They got to work and found a really nice TV called the Panasonic’s Viera TCL32G1, which is about $460 online. Go ahead and read the article. It has some great advice - Read more

New Macbook Pro i7 Unboxing

Engadget just got their grubby hands all over the new 2010 Macbook Pro - and they have pointed out some key elements of the system you should know. First off, the hardware and looks have not really changed at all, but one key thing to note is they somehow managed to change the track pad to scroll more like an iPhone. Also, switching between the Nvidia 330M and the Integrated Graphics is no longer a chore. It seems that it is automatic, and you can also change it manually without having to log out, and back in again. These are the main points from the unboxing, but Engadget also has some really neat photos too!

Photoshop Keyboard Shortcuts Guide

Photoshop Keyboard Shortcuts Guide

I’ve been using Photoshop for years but not until yesterday did I decide to go ahead and customize my shortcuts to my personal liking. What can I say, I hate cropping via the drop down menu! So it’s now Ctrl + Z.

There are a lot of people out there who aren’t aware of the wide variety of keyboard shortcuts that make Photoshop a much more streamlined experience than it already is. Whether it’s zooming in, Undo-ing, or just simply cutting and pasting, shortcuts are a PS user’s best friend.

So after scouring the internet, we found the best keyboard shortcuts guide out there for Photoshop - Check it out HERE

Gears of War 3 details - 4 player co-op, new cover system

Gears of War 3 has been announced and it’s coming April of next year, but what else should you know? How about that the game will host a 4 player co-op campaign, a new cover system, female gears, robust multiplayer matchmaking, and new weapons. That’s a lot of NEW stuff! Cliffy B., the game’s head designer, explains:

“I can confirm today that we are doing 4-player co-op in the story mode… In Gears it’s not the same as in other games because you’re getting a story-based mode and in Gears 1 and 2 player one is Marcus and player two is Dom.

We’re looking at a double-barrel shotgun, we’re looking at female Gears, we’re looking at bringing back old maps - I can’t confirm any but I can confirm that we will see some favourites returning.”

We definitely want to improve players’ ability to play with their friends and stick together as a party. We haven’t announced how we’re doing that yet but we definitely have plans for that.”

Sounds like it’s going to be an EPIC game - hahaha, see what I did there?

Well, you can stream to an external speaker! Enter the Mint Studio.

Google Chrome is fast?

Google Chrome is fast?

What is this? I don’t even-

What’s this have to do with anything? Yes, Chrome is fast when opening up but I don’t remember other browsers really lacking in that department. That’s unless we’re talking about IE, though it’s too easy to pick on it, so let us be adults and not.

Google, spend your money elsewhere and make ads for things that matter; maybe you could tease that Google tablet of yours.

How Twitter is changing ads forever, for the better

“What is this hidden in my Tweets? An advert you say!?” - That is what I thought when I saw the headline of this at Mashable that said “Promoted Tweets” which are Tweets that sound like a bunch of BS to me, at first. But then I thought of Facebook, and all of a sudden, I saw Twitter in a whole new light.
