T-Mobile forced to remove HD2 software update

Remember how momentous the T-Mobile HD2 update was: Bluebirds were in the air, young love was being rekindled, and the sun shone as though a mystic being was touching the earth. Okay, so none of that stuff actually happened, but in the long run it’s probably a good thing. T-Mobile was recently forced to remove the HD2’s software update after receiving several complaints from disgruntled users. Unfortunately for those who updated their Windows Mobile flagship device, their handset was destined to fail.

More specifically, the update refused to download (that one’s not the real biggie), battery life was diminished to a point where the handset was unusable, phones became bricked (while children cried naturally), and lastly, handsets became slower than what they were previously — we’ll tip our hats to the latter complaint, after all who would’ve thought that a Windows Mobile 6.5 device could become slower than what it already is; good job T-Mobile. We’ll update you when the HD2’s software shortcomings become updated… again. In the meantime just sit tight.

Insomniac Games going Multi-Platform with new EA deal

Insomniac Games going Multi-Platform with new EA deal

Insomniac Games, the studio responsible for popular franchises like Ratchet and Clank and Resistance, made it public yesterday that they’ve wrapped up a deal with heavyweight publisher EA to come up with a new multi-platform IP.

Nothing concrete has been said in terms of what this game will be, except for the fact that it’ll be releasing on both Xbox 360 and PS3. Sony still gets to keep the aforementioned properties above, though I’m sure they wish that this was all but a bad dream. But Insomniac did say that they are still committed to Sony and the titles they are working on alongside them.

Motorola Shadow spotted in the wild

Sleek, sexy, as dangerous as its Sonic the Hedgehog namesake; the Motorola Shadow is an opponent not to be rivalled with. Being spotted in the wild by wnrussell of Howard Forums, Motorola’s most recent “confidential… restricted property” looks like a handset to get excited over. Oh, and yes that’s an HDMI out port — looks like the EVO 4G isn’t the only phone with HDMI out anymore. According to legend, the Shadow is fitted with: a 4.1-inch display, TI OMAP 3630 processor running at 720MHz, 8GB internal storage, and an 8-megapixel camera. The only thing left to ask is: when will Big Red be releasing this little guy?

The 5 Best Computer Mice Available

The 5 Best Computer Mice Available

Apparently the news is “Mice aren’t dead… yet” and on that little tidbit of interesting info, Engadget decided to kick it old school and review some computer mice, with the Razor Imperator, Magic Mouse, Logitech MX, MadCatz Eclipse TouchMouse, and Microsoft Explorer Mouse taking a place as test subjects.

They added in some neato image galleries along with plenty of info about the mice. Personally, my favorite is the Logitech MX (for netbooks n’ stuff) but I really want to grab a Magic Mouse soon - Read more

Google PacMan Cost the world $120.5 Million Dollars

Google PacMan Cost the world $120.5 Million Dollars

Right off the bat, people were absolutely astounded that Google, of all websites, would put a videogame (as their logo) to celebrate 30 years of Pac-Man. This is the first time Google has put more than a GIF image on their homepage, and the most exciting part was it was all done in HTML5.

The thing is though people spent an average of 48 seconds on the homepage, compared to the normal 11 seconds - and since 503,703,000 people visited that day, it quickly added up to $120.5 million dollars lost in productivity.

You can still play it here - and read more

T-Mobile begins to roll out its HSPA+ network in Northeastern USA

So it may not be 4G, but T-Mobile’s HSPA+ offers today’s 4G speeds in a 3.5G package. Announced via T-Mobile USA’s official Twitter page: Upstate New York, Connecticut, Memphis, Tennessee and Las Vegas have now all been retrofitted with T-Mobile’s latest HSPA+ network. With theoretical speeds of 21Mbps down you’ll be able to browse the web at comparable speeds to Sprint’s already available WiMAX network — although, in the long run 4G networks will obliterate HSPA. Full press release after the break.
