Google is suing the fake pharmacies that spam us

You know those fake companies (namely pharmacies) that spam us offers for Viagra? Yeah, we hate them too — but what you may find interesting is that their ads have been appearing in Gmail, inline with our regular email, for years. They show up to the far right of an email message, where the other related ads do, and since Google runs these ads, they are going to sue the pants off them.

Google launches "Watch this space" - Better ads are coming (hopefully)

Google says “Display ads are big. They’re gonna be huge!”, oh great — From what we can tell, Google is going to re-fresh their core business model (advertising) for the first time, in a long time. Here at T3ch H3lp, we stopped using Google Adsense because of a few reasons: First, the ads we’re butt ugly, and had little or no relevancy to what you guys liked, and secondly — they had to be too big and too many for us to make any money.

Here’s the thing — Google is planning to re-vamp their most popular company branch, but their not focusing on the publisher side, they seem to be focusing on the advertiser and corporate side. They pitch it as if they are giving publishers a fresh new foundation to use — but in reality their going to allow advertisers to make more crazy, flashy ads.

Is this good for advertisers? Definitely yes, but is it good for publishers? Not any more than it is now, and by the looks of what they outline on their promo page, they aren’t focusing on the publisher. In the end, this will probably allow advertisers to have better made and better performing ads, but it looks like publishers will still have the same ol’ shtuff. Time will tell.

Un-needed update: Most users are pissed and are now installing “huge” ad-blockers

Off Topic - Leo Laporte Sucking the Microphone on TWiT Live

This is when we have to sit back and realize that people like Kevin Rose, Leo Laporte, Sarah Lane, Alex Albrecht and Veronica Belmont are normal people too — and when they mess up, they have every right to suck their microphone.

This is a golden moment that needs to be saved, cherished and spread in hopes of good cheer — and proof that Leo Laporte (like any normal guy) can make light of a frustrating situation (5 takes to do the intro for TWiT).

63% of iPhone users will stick with AT&T, even if exclusivity is lost

That’s quite shocking, due to the fact that all we hear is “AT&T sucks” on news sites and the mouths of tech pundits. It’s very revealing to know that over half of AT&T iPhone users will stick with the carrier, even if Verizon gets the iPhone as well — and although we don’t know the demographic that this survey was conducted on, it is sure an interesting bit of info nevertheless…
