ASUS Padfone - A tablet that swallows your Phone (running Windows 7?)

ASUS Padfone - A tablet that swallows your Phone (running Windows 7?)

Okay, so this idea is brilliant for a few reasons: One is not having to carry a phone around all the time, but still have your phone if you need it, and another is being able to upgrade the tablet simply by grabbing a new phone — but there are some really confusing details in the video. How are we going to run Windows 7 on a phone (note IE8 at the 1:40 mark) correctly and also, what is the point of using Windows 7 on ARM in the mobile space? We already know it’s a horrible choice for tablets, and it would be torture to work it into a phone.

A concept for Google Maps - Highlight the actual streets!

Note: We have to give credit where credit is due. This idea was thought up by courvoisier_goldteef on Reddit who created this pretty interesting concept for Google Maps. What I did was take his original concept and turned it into something it could actually look like. Why hasn’t Google done this? We don’t quite know — full view after the break!

Asus UX21 ultrathin laptop hands on with Myriam Joire

Asus UX21 ultrathin laptop hands on with Myriam Joire

Our good friend Myriam Joire visited Computex this year and decided to get some hands on with the Asus UX21. A Core i7 CPU, SATA III SSD, USB 3.0 all inside a metal enclosure reminds us of the Macbook Air, and right now the Air isn’t looking so hot. The UX21 also features a glass trackpad, a chicklet metal keyboard and a 2 second time to wake from sleep. It’s definitely going to give the Air a run for it’s money, but will it be able to beat the $1000 price point?

Putting Steve Jobs back into perspective

I enjoy many Apple products and respect Apple’s mission to create the “best products in the world”, but I also understand their ethics aren’t always, well, ethical. Apple isn’t a bad company, in fact, they aren’t really different than any other company out there. We just want to make sure people are reminded about a certain someone, and the pretty un-cool things they do. We’re talking about Steve Jobs.

Hot Wheels in real life - World Record Jump video

If anything can bring the kid in you to the surface, it’s this. Remember building those crazy tracks in your room? Jumps, hairpins, loopty-loops? Well this is about as close as your going to get to the real thing — an astonising jump off of a lifesized Hot Wheels ramp sending Team How Wheels soaring 332ft in the air, and skidding in the dirt. If your a brother, show your little brother this, and if you’re a dad, now’s the time to pick up some race cars!

Kork iPad (1G) case review

There are hundreds of types of iPad cases; some made out of cheap plastic, and others carved out of rare wood. But there’s only one crafted from the cork of trees. Introducing the Kork iPad Case — it’s nothing special. No moving parts. No stand. Just an iPad case made out of the standard materials you’d find in a cork board in an office. How’s it work as an iPad case? To be blunt: wonderfully! — Our review after the break!
