Apple confirms Siri won't be ported to older iDevices

Apple has recently confirmed to a developer of its iOS platform that it has “no plans” to bring Siri, the highly intuitive voice controlled personal assistant software available on its most recent iPhone (the iPhone 4S), to any older devices. Unfortunately it doesn’t come as much of a shock, sources close to the company originally reported that a port of Siri was slim at best, yet those of us with an iPhone 4 or iPad 2 were still hoping for an optimistic outcome. Alas that optimism has been quashed. — More after the break!

Creator of Twitter for Mac and iOS, Loren Brichter leaves Twitter

Yesterday, the original creator of Tweetie Loren Brichter announced that he will be leaving Twitter. Brichter, who originally joined Twitter after the social media company acquired his personal application design company, Atebits, was responsible for creating the official Twitter application for iOS and Mac OS X. Could HTC's rise to smartphone-fandom be slowly ending?

Since the Android boom began, one smartphone manufacturer has led the pack, surpassing other OEMs with superbly manufactured wares and a highly robust custom user-interface. Taiwanese company HTC has seen nothing but rising profit margins and sales since adopting Google’s mobile operating system three years ago. Yet despite this profound success, the company has expressed that it expects little in the way of record breaking sales headed into the final quarter of 2011. The average selling price of current HTC smartphones is on a steadily declining slope, but why? — More after the break!

ITG's xpPhone 2 will run Windows 8

In Technology Group, the Chinese company responsible for merging the smartphone-Windows PC user experience, has once again combined both the realms of Microsoft’s Windows desktop operating system, and the ultra-portable smartphone. This time, the company has created what they are calling the “post-smartphone” - similar to xpPhone’s of old, ITG is in the works to release the xpPhone 2 - a smartphone that is poised to run both Windows 7 and Microsoft’s yet to be released, PC version of Windows 8. — More after the break!

OmniTouch is Microsoft's projector based touch computer

In recent years Microsoft has been at the forefront of innovation in the tech game - you really only have to look as far as the Kinect for Xbox 360, or the overly impressive Courier to see what they’re capable of - continuing on with this trend, the Redmond based computer conglomerate has presented two very interesting touch based systems at the UI symposium, UIST 2012. The first project, OmniTouch, which in my opinion is certainly more sci-fi than its brethren, aims to turn any and all surfaces into a touch-enabled space. — More after the break!

Study Claims That Consumers Want Amazon Branded Tablet

A recent study issued by Retrevo claims that many consumers would favour an Amazon branded tablet should one arrive. According to the study, Retrevo found that many consumers are interested in cheaper tablet options, and if a viable alternative to Apple’s market dominating iPad were to come about, it could very well be a serious competitor.
