Alternative takes on iOS 5 Notification Center

Apple announced iOS 5 a few weeks ago, and the excitement is already building to a peak, but the word is that it won’t be released until the fall, so there’s also an undertone of disappointment attached to the good news. One of the major announcements for iOS 5 was Notification Center, which is a very Android style notification dashboard that shades the screen as you slide your finger down. It displays info like weather, missed calls, emails, texts and stocks and although it looks great, many designers are already all over it, creating their own take on the new Notification Center.

Google's site has been un-officially redesigned

The Google homepage has been essentially the same since day one — blue underlined links, white background, the famous multi-color logo (inspired by Lego) and the occasional Google doodle. The Google homepage and search page have undergone many tweaks and enhancements, but it has never strayed from what it has always been… simple.

New Squarespace homepage design looks different, but amazing

Squarespace has been pumping out news like crazy for the past while, including really detailed information on the next release of their platform, Version 6. They are obviously wrapping up the details and making sure everything will fit together and launch without a hitch, but Squarespace is also re-vamping their own homepage and boy-oh-boy is it beautiful!

Introducing Okay Geek Mobile (Beta)

Here at Okay Geek we always put quality before due dates. There are many awesome companies we idolize that often release products late, or never at all in the name of quality — “You can release a product on schedule, but if you don’t take the time required to perfect it, it can suck forever.” — Gabe Newell

Another quick taste of Sqarespace V6 from Dribbble

So, we all know about Squarespace’s next itteration of their web service and we’re all itching to get a taste. I was browsing Dribbble and I noticed Tyler Thompson (Squarespace creative director) had posted a new shot.

It looked to be a timeline for a blog, and just because it looked so awesome I was going to send it around, but then I noticed something — it was tagged with “squarespace” and “v6” — clearly Tyler is up to something.

This is just another tidbit we found showing off Squarespace V6, but we can’t begin to imagine everything that’s coming in the update.

Useful ideas for Nintendo Wii U and how we'd use it

The new Nintendo Wii U was announced at E3 2011 and it’s been the buzz of the conference. Not much of the actual console was shown, but the new controller was front and center — but here is the dilemma. Nintendo rolled tons of trailers, developer interviews and gameplay footage for the Wii U at their press conference, but there was no sign of a demo. Since we’re missing that part, here are some examples I’ve designed of how the Wii U could prove useful in a verity of games.

Lead MobileNotifier Developer Scooped up by Apple

Notifications on the iPhone and other iOS devices have been a riot mess for quite sometime now. We have seen a barrage of utilities and applications developed for those willing to take the plunge into jailbreak fandom, the most promising and unobtrusive system being MobileNotifier. In fact, some may remember our original article on the matter. Since then however, MobileNotifier has transgressed from beta build software to semi-official Apple software. Let me explain; it has recently come to light that the original developer behind MobileNotifier was scooped up by an undisclosed fruit based company located in Cupertino, California.
