Uncharted film might get Neil Burger as writer and director

David O. Russel, whose film talents were better suited for projects not of video game origin, was first attached to direct the Uncharted adapation about a year ago. But after making countless changes to the story and mythos, thereby throwing out any sort of relationship between the proposed movie and its source material with the exception of its name, he was told to take a hike by Sony. Now a new challenger has entered the ring with The Illusionist and Limitess director and occasional screenplay writer, Neil Burger. — More after the break!

Sony introducing "Network Pass Program" for games to get full online features

We’ve seen this before with the likes of Mortal Kombat in which retail buyers would get a code known as the “Kombat Pass” that allowed them to get all the online features necessary to play multiplayer and so on. While this is an effective way to cut down on ‘Used Games’ sales, it does seriously screw with with most of the gaming community. Well, apparently after some packaging for an upcoming Resistance 3 bundle was spotted with some noise about a “PSN Network Pass”, Sony has since clarified that it means exactly what gamers wish it didn’t. — Details after the break!

Sony not threatened at all by Wii U and it will not affect PS4 plans

I think Michael Pachter said it best, that the Wii U was announced too late and with a goofy name. By only just now releasing a real “next-gen” console, with 1080p, an viable online platform, and AAA titles, Nintendo is only barely catching up to a hardcore gaming business that’s been going strong for the past few years now, with games like Uncharted, Gears of War, and Call of Duty leading the way. That being said, local Sony president of SCEA, Jack Tretton doesn’t feel threatened in the least. — More after the break!

Sony offering PS3 users 6 months of Qriocity for free

There’s been a whole lot of talk between the guys around the Okay Geek office about which streaming music service (Google’s Music Beta or Apple’s iCloud) we think is the best option to go with. Well, we were pretty unaware that Sony has had one for a while in Qriocity. Yeah, y’know that service that Sony kept talking about during the PSN outage which nobody really knew what it was about? Well, it’s actually a front for another service called Music Unlimited that gives you access to 7 million songs from all the major labels and allows you to stream them to multiple devices. And now Sony is offering 6 months free of the music streaming service to PS3 users. — Details after the break!

E3 2011 -- Vanillaware and Dragon's Crown coming to PS Vita

If you follow Vanillaware then you know that they have a very distinct hand drawn 2D way about all their games; starting from Odin Sphere and onward, there work looks like nothing else. So when Sony teased a Vanillaware title in their PS Vita games montage, you could only imagine some people pointing at their screens going “oooooo!!” Well, here’s some gameplay footage of that game, Dragon’s Crown.

E3 2011 -- LittleBigPlanet leads the pack in PS Vita titles

What would any Sony system be without a LittleBigPlanet to go travel right alongside it? Nothing, that’s what! Okay, maybe I’m being a little harsh but it certainly gives them an edge when you got a cute character like Sackboy on your sideline. That being said, LBP will be appearing as a PS Vita title when the system launches later this Holiday season.
