With games like Ratchet and Clank, Jak and Daxter, Spyro, and Sly Cooper, a whole new generation of gaming icons took center stage. Well, it’s been nearly 6 years since Sly’s been given a new game, so isn’t it time we see him on the PS3?

PS Vita - Everything you need to know

E3 2011 press conferences haven’t been all that hot so far (Microsoft sort of started us on a sour note), and it seemed that the day’s events were taking a voilent nosedive towards complete lameness — but then we saw a glimmer of light, the “life” or “Vita”, if you will, when the PS Vita was brought to the stage. Last friday in Europe, Sony Computer Entertainment filed a pair of trademark claims for both the name “PS Vita” and its pairing logo. — Details after the break!

Rumor: Playstation's NGP will be called the "PS Vita"

Sony’s PSP successor, otherwise codenamed the “NGP” (Next Generation Portable), is rumored to finally have a real name. And that name is “PS Vita”, taken from the Latin word for “life, the same word you see in Vitatops and Vitamin water. What’s Sony up to with this type of branding — a rejuvinating nature in the world of handheld gaming? Who knows, but it’s got me pulling an Angry Video Game Nerd and asking, “what were they thinking?!” — More after the break!

PS3 firmware 3.61 breaking L.A. Noire for some players

Potential game of the year winner, L.A. Noire, developed by reknowned games studio, Rockstar, has hit a bit of a snag after its release this week. According to some complaints made by PS3 owners, the game causes players to suffer odd “start and stop” activity, as well as random shut offs on their systems. However, fingers are being pointed to not the game itself, but rather the latest 3.61 firmware update that made PSN users change their passwords — More after the break!
