The Force Unleashed 2: Collector's Edition News

With the official trailer hitting the streets this Friday on Gametrailers TV, it’s only fitting that we look at the PURE awesomeness of the newly revealed collector’s edition to Star Wars: the Force Unleashed 2. The original was, and is, still one of my favorite games and I just can’t wait to see what story arc they are going to take with the upcoming sequel. But anyway, let’s see what goodies are in store for those who spend a little extra change!

AT&T security breach reveals 114,000 iPad email addresses

Whoops - There has been a security breach over at AT&T HQ, and theres no good news. 114,000 iPad owners have had their email addresses (along with associated SIM / ICC identifiers) exposed to a hacker clan called “Goatse Security”.

“A group of hackers calling themselves Goatse Security (be careful looking that one up) figured out a number of ICC-IDs and ran a script on AT&T’s site through a faked iPad UserAgent, which would then return the associated addresses” — Engadget

Foxconn scraps victim compensation plan, wants to set up an automated factory

We’ve heard all kinds of stories surrounding Foxconn — and their less than desirable working conditions — however, yesterday during Foxconn’s annual shareholder meeting, it was revealed that the company will stop compensating families of deceased employees. According to Foxconn CEO Terry Gou, the recent bouts of suicide can be strongly linked to the company’s death benefits (a la “victim compensation”).

“…now I’m going to jump off Foxconn, really leaving now, but you don’t have to be sad, because Foxconn will pay a bit of money, this is all your son can repay you now.”

Sprint slightly misstates number of EVOs sold on launch day

Sprint slightly misstates number of EVOs sold on launch day

Well, this is slightly disappointing. It’s come to light that Sprint’s grossly misstated the total number EVO 4Gs sold on launch day. Sure, they’ve clearly sold a bucket full (and if analysts are to be believed they’ve sold around 150, 000 devices), but lets just rehash Sprint’s original statement:

“The total number of HTC EVO 4G devices sold on launch day was three times the number of Samsung Instinct and Palm Pre devices sold over their first three days on the market combined.”

Guys, we respect how many handsets you’ve sold. But did you really think issuing a correction in the wee, wee hours of the morn would result in people not noticing? Hmmm? - Read More

Portal 2 Delayed to 2011, Portal 2 Information is E3 "Surprise"

Well, Valve certainly follows rumors! Last week, Aperture Science set out an email canceling the E3 Portal 2 event and replacing it with a “surprise.” The internet promptly exploded into rumors of Valve finally, after all these painful years, announcing Half Life 2: Episode 3 but it seems Valve… I mean, Aperture Science, has quelled those rumors in another email to the press, entitled “MAKING GAMES IS HARD!”

What has Aperture done now? Find out after the break!

PBS Video - Video Games Live

I attended a Video Games Live concert a couple years back and it was one of the most magical shows I’ve ever been to.

There’s just something special about being in the audience and hearing this music and having the same emotions as everyone else, whom you’ve never met before, and realizing that you all are feeling the same things as you did when you first played the game individually.

PBS will be doing a special on the program later this summer.

Stay tuned for more details.

Alienware M11x gets core i5 and i7 Upgrades

The Alienware M11x has always been an interesting device; sporting netbook internals with a smokin’ hot GPU. Well, now it has the justification to be a true portable gaming machine with options for an Intel i5 520UM that overclocks to 1.866 GHz and a i7 640UM, which maxes out at 2.266 GHz. And as if this speed bump was’t enough, the new M11x comes with NVIDIA Optimus - a new graphics switching technology.

Prices start at $950 for the i5 model, and for an extra $150 on top of that you get the even faster i7.
