Nintendo patenting single-player MMO concept

The title can be a little hard to understand but it’s exactly how it sounds; Nintendo has applied for a concept that would allow the world of a game be subjected to the decisions players have made across the globe, however the game itself would be a single-player experience. The only thing that makes it MMO is the shared world that changes dependant on the actions of its players. Did somebody say Pokemon? — More after the break!

Parents boycotted the Super Nintendo's release in 1991 - (Video)

Nowadays in the video game industry there’s this thing called the “console cycle” where about every 6 years or so — but back in the early 90’s this was a whole new concept to grasp. When Nintendo ditched the NES for its newer, more bits and bytes capable Super Nintendo machine, they caused quite the outrage among parents who felt they had been cheated out of their money.

Nintendo's 3DS gets a 'Flame Red' makeover on September 9th

During the days of the N64 Nintendo released like 10 bajillion colors and versions of the console and its controller, and that made the system that much more special to each individual owner.  Butwhen the Wii came out Nintendo promised a similar scheme but never even came close to releasing even a third color. Well, the 3DS may be off to a good start introducing a new color starting September 9th. — More after the break!

Nintendo President: "Software might need to get a price drop too"

Satoru Iwata, Nintendo’s Pres. and CEO, doesn’t seem to shut up these days does he? Nintendo has always been a company that’s played their cards pretty close to the chest but since the 3DS price drop they’re like an open book telling everyone and everything that moves their plans. The latest talk is about convincing publishers to knock down their game prices. — More after the break!

Breaking: Nintendo 3DS getting heavy price drop - $169 starting Aug. 12th

Let’s face it, the 3DS was an awesome idea but simply priced too high. Not only that, but the serious lack of software support from all angles (3rd party and 1st) has been a major letdown for early adopters who believed we’d get a new age of handheld dominance from the Big N. Well, Nintendo today announced a whopping, never before seen $80 price cut only 5 months since its initial release in the states. And it doesn’t end there; early adopters will get 20 free NES and GBA virtual console titles once they become available on the eShop. — Details after the break!

How does Pokemon Black and White’s director (to the left on the above image) feel about all the praise given to shooters and ultra-violent games during this past summer’s E3? Well, he was quite amazed and a little dumb-founded according to some words he’s penned down on GameFreak’s blog. — More after the break!

3DS gets Netflix update on eShop today -- Download it now

Fresh off the heels of Netflix’s recent price change, support for the now infamous streaming service has made its way onto Nintendo’s 3DS handheld. Now watching episodes of LOST, or The Office can go hand in hand whenever you’re too frustrated or tired of tackling the Water Temple in OoT. Unfortunately, none of the programming is presented in 3D but hey, it’s another device to replace the redundancy of cable tv nowadays. — Details on how to download after the break!
