Female haxors in my internet!?1

I used to live in Anaheim, California where Fox 11 was my local news, and I couldn’t stand watching it. After seeing this video on female hackers - slash - “phreaks” - slash - “hack faeries”, it gives me no incentive to move back to the area.

Informative? No, not really.

Stupid? I would say, very yes.

HTC EVO 4G on sale June 4th for $199 on contract

Well, well, we’re not quite sure what to make of this: It appears that the HTC EVO 4G release rumour that we ran last week is indeed true (or at least close enough to being true). Made official today, Sprint announced that the world’s first WiMAX-powered Android device will launch on June 4th for $199 on contract, however according to the fine print, the full cost of the device will be around $450 before all discounts / subsidies are applied.

Like most great things in life there’s a downside to all this pure mechanical lust: As mandatory all customers will be required to pay a $10 per month “Premium Data add-on” on top of their already existing plan. According to Engadget and Phone Scoop, the $10 premium add-on is more than meets the eye; its primary existence is to remove the data limit from both the 3G and WiMAX bands of the device. If you’ve got a hankering to learn more about the EVO 4G’s launch, we’ve got Sprint’s full press release after the break.

New functional iPhone 4G in Vietnam running OS 4

New functional iPhone 4G in Vietnam running OS 4

“iPhone 4G VN is distributed by the network not it? Maybe not then, we’ll be the first use:”

Those are the translated words found on a forum in Vietnam who has found an iPhone 4. Old news right? But what if I told you it wasn’t locked out like the previous models that were found. The other iPhones that were found were newer prototypes, whereas this one is an “N90 PRO2” which is an older version of the iPhone Prototype, which may have been easier to bypass - Read more

Hurt Locker fighting against Piracy - Will sue 'thousands'

If you’re the kind who likes to watch the latest theatrical flicks via torrents, then you may want to pay attention to this. Well, this really only applies to those who downloaded “The Hurt Locker” (the movie that won that big movie award thing).

Reports are coming in that the producers of the film are going to contact somewhere around tens of thousands of those who downloaded the movie illegally. It’s actually going so speedily through the channels that the lawsuit against the pirates may begin as soon as tomorrow, so you if you’re one in question then you should probably expect to be contacted by your ISP.

We’ve seen this sorta this happen before and not many people are willing to fight it; most just settle out of court, which goes to show that these scare tactics are working. I guess it’s a lot easier to do it that way than to rewrite laws and actually get some sort of reform when it comes to distinguishing what is within the rights of an ISP customer, sharing and stealing, as well as being able to properly pin the blame on the right person.  Yeah, it’s quite a task but it has to be done.

Interesting to note, however, is that the movie was available on torrent sites a full 5 months before the film ever reached U.S. theaters. Perhaps without the people who downloaded the film it might’ve never won its lucrative award - hey, y’never know!

Awesome transparent monitor tricks

Awesome transparent monitor tricks

I’ve seen these done in the past but it just never gets old. It’s an easy trick to do, but it takes some excellent skills to get your photo to line up correctly with what’s happening around your monitor.

Unplggd, hands down one of my most favorite sites ever, is all about design and furniture placement - think Feng shui but in geek terms - and they’ve tracked down some of the coolest and best transparent screen set ups I’ve ever seen.

Pokemon: Black and White Starters Revealed

Well, here are your Pokemon: Black and White starters; Yeah, I’m a little disappointed too, but then again it appears like they’ll never look as good or as endearing as the Gen. 2 starters, and then again I’m not 13 years old either.

Tsutaju (a snake) is your grass starter, and Pokabu (pig) and Mijumaru (sea otter) are your fire and water types, respectively. The game takes place in a region called Isshu, and the protagonists will be a little older than the usual 10 years old standard we’ve come t be familiar with.

Full CoroCoro scans after the break!
