Breaking: Steve Jobs resigns as CEO of Apple

We knew this fateful day was coming but this has hit everyone like a deer in a pair of headlights. No one expected it to come so out of the blue, especially seemingly right before the unveiling of the highly anticipated iPhone 5, and the subsequent release of the iPad 3. While each of us at Okay Geek have our own personal feelings for or against Steve-O, we’re sad to see him go as the guy we love to love, or love to hate. — His resignation after the break!

Scumbag Facebook blocks posting Google+ links and invites

As if things couldn’t get worse for the Google+ & Facebook friendly rival, today news breaks that Facebook has figured out a clever way to prevent you from sharing links to Google+ and G+ invites. What happens is Facebook accepts the post as a normal link post, and adds it to your wall. Everything is fine and dandy, but the kicker is that the post is only visible to you, so you think you’ve shared the post publickly when in reality nobody else can see it. This is a new low for Facebook. What are they, 6 years old? Wait, nevermind…

Origin wins over customers with awesome deals (36 games for $5 each)

With the inevitable death of physical goods for PC gaming, Valve’s Steam has won over gamers hearts by providing excellent service and awesome  Origin has been a touchy subject for a lot of PC gamers due to the fact they have amassed their entire game library on Steam, and don’t have any plans on leaving. Origin has come under fire again and again for removing EA titles from Steam, dwindling support and of course, the Battlefield 3 controversy — this is how they plan to win their customers.

Apple iCloud (Beta) in action - Video

Judging by what we see, iCloud will be a web-based experience that’s tailored to mobile devices, but is still powerful on the desktop. The design is wonderful (maybe a little to artsy), and we really dig how the interface matches OS X Lion and the rest of Apple’s platforms. Really impressive so far, and we are looking forward to seeing iCloud in full swing this fall…

Apple TV gets Vimeo and TV show streaming (iOS 4.3)

Apple has released a new update (iOS 4.3) for the Apple TV (2G) this morning which brings Vimeo to the big screen and TV show viewing bliss (although this is still a tad foggy at the moment). I have just updated my Apple TV and I can say it’s not an extravagant update by any means, and I’m not sure if it fixes some issues I was having before — but it’s still an exciting update!

Breaking: Nintendo 3DS getting heavy price drop - $169 starting Aug. 12th

Let’s face it, the 3DS was an awesome idea but simply priced too high. Not only that, but the serious lack of software support from all angles (3rd party and 1st) has been a major letdown for early adopters who believed we’d get a new age of handheld dominance from the Big N. Well, Nintendo today announced a whopping, never before seen $80 price cut only 5 months since its initial release in the states. And it doesn’t end there; early adopters will get 20 free NES and GBA virtual console titles once they become available on the eShop. — Details after the break!

Apple's 27-inch Thunderbolt display is essentially an iMac, minus a few things

Apple’s been known for always releasing new products at the same price of their predecessors but with a few more features than last time around and this is very true with the new 27-inch Thunderbolt Display. It’s essentially an iMac minus a processor, RAM, Harddrive, Graphics card and OS. It has everything else like USB, Thunderbolt, Ethernet, FireWire, HD Facetime camera, Speakers, Mic and 27 inches of glory — but it also has one or two other tricks up it’s sleeve.
