How to: Get Your PC Monitor at Eye Level for Minimal Strain

For such a long time while I'd be working for hours at my computer my neck and upper back would really start killing me.  At first I thought maybe it was my chair, but after doing a bit of research I finally discovered that it my monitors were too low. So unknowingly I was straining my body all over just because I wasn't looking properly straight at my screens.

To help combat the pain I've planned to make a DIY monitor stand, but for the moment while it's being constructed I went with a quick fix consisting of books and cds. The trick is getting your monitor's center point slightly below your eye level. It may seem a bit weird to have your screens up so high but trust me, it'll help a ton to get that extra baggage from your shoulders and neck.

Here's a quick look at my own set up. I have some thick books holding up these monstrosities and have eased up the tension

How HTML5 Could Finally Kill Flash Video On The Web

We all know that Adobe's Flash runs a lot of high tech sites, video players, and more. The problem, as most of us know, is that it takes a lot of processing power to run. This is partly the reason Apple doesn't have Flash player on the iPhone. With recent options like Microsoft's Silverlight and HTML5, Flash is arguably becoming the worst option you have to watch media. The real question for many companies, though, is that is Flash still the future or is HTML5 the answer? Many video hosting sites like YouTube and Vimeo are putting their money with the latter.

As of now the only problem with HTML5 is that it only works with a few browsers such as Safari and Chrome, but it does come in the h.264 format that's supported by all browsers. This is how you are able to watch YouTube videos from you cell phone or iPhone, and Apple nerds will be happy to hear about this move especially because of the terrible Flash performance on Mac OS X and Linux systems. I recently have had huge problems with Flash constantly crashing on my Mac while watching online videos, but thankfully if flash dies, I wouldn't have to wait for updates or worry about Flash crashing anymore. This may very be the death of Flash video in the making.

Apple's Jesus Phone Saves Man in Haiti While Waiting for Rescue

Who would've thought that the Jesus phone would indeed be responsible for a miracle? To one man the phone itself was his lifesaver. Don Woolley, an American filmmaker, who just happened to be down in Haiti during the ungodly earthquake unfortunately found himself under rubble that used to be the hotel lobby where he was staying. Being trapped for 65 hours with a compound fracture and cuts to his head the odds were against him, but luckily a first aid app he had downloaded on his iPhone prior helped him to patch himself up while waiting for rescue. And by using Apple's personal own miracle worker he set the phone's alarm to go off every 20 minutes to avoid falling asleep and going into shock.

Stuck in a life or death situation with no sign of immediate aide? There's an app for that.

People Still use Windows 3.1 and use the internet?

Here at T3ch H3lp we get about 110,000 to 140,000 visits a month, but what suprizes us is that 0.01% of those hits are coming from an "operating environment" made 20+ years ago.

Yes, T3ch H3lp now receives 2 hits a month from Windows 3.1 and it is completely and utterly awesome! I knew that people around the world still use Windows 3.1, but they would choose to visit T3ch H3lp? I'm flattered.

We sure do have somewhat of a retro fan base, but this is taking it to the next level. Sure we get some visits from the Wii, PS3, and Even Windows NT, but Windows 3.1? -- made my day.

Wii Getting Black Boxes for Teen and Mature Games - Japan

Nintendo's Wii boxes have all been a default white color up until now, with the exception of New Super Mario Bros. Wii which sported the famous Mario red (and also received the elusive "Best All Time Box/Box Art Award" from your's truly). But Nintendo's country of origin wants to add another color into the mix; the color black. And it's purpose is much more than just for aesthetics. The first game to sport it will be Zangeki no Reginleiv, a game that plays host to some gorey giant slaying gameplay - not the sorta stuff made for kids. So from now on Nintendo will only being using these black boxes for games rated C (15+), D (17+), and Z (21+) in Japan, to give parents an extra layer to go through before deciding to buy that kind of games for their kids.

I think it's a great step, and more companies should join in on the movement. Sure, ratings are right in front of the boxes and have detailed descriptions in the back covers, but this new effort really takes all the work out of it and makes it ridiculously simple. It also adds a little class to collections of older gamers who may have thought the Wii's white was too wimpy; though, I myself have always been a fan of the simplistic white. I hope Reggie already has this planned out for the US because gawd knows we need it bad.

Video - Palm Pre Plus Performance Stress Test

The Palm Pre was always known for its multitasking features and the ability to run even 13 apps at the same time, this was a huge selling point when it came to marketing against the iPhone. It also received criticism for the fact that the phone slowed down after a fair number of apps were open, and that led to arguments of weather multitasking on smartphones is a must.

Then came along little Plus, its a newer version of the Palm Pre which is lacking in the trackball department, but is a monster multitasker. In the video after the break, this guy puts the Plus under the ultimate stress test which results in him running 50 apps at the same time, while playing a driving game, smooth as silk, while the normal Pre is left to rust. Video after the break!
