Thwipster - Daily deals for geeky books and figures

For anyone who calls himself a geek it’s hard to say that you don’t enjoy reading in some capacity. Whether it be through fantasy novels or just comics, we’re all into some sort of habit of collectively reading groups of words within binded covers. Or maybe you’d rather stare at a casted figure of your favorite character in geekdom. Regardless of which of the two you’re into, Thwipster’s got you covered. — Find out more after the break!

Wii getting $150 price tag on May 15, Nintendo introducing greatest hits line-up

With only a month or so left until the world’s biggest video game conference goes down in LA, and with it details of Nintendo’s upcoming console, their current system is getting its price dropped lower than ever. Starting May 15th the Wii will be going on store shelves with a reduced price tag of $150, which surprisingly won’t be bundled with Wii Sports, but rather Mario Kart Wii, along with its plastic Wii-Steering wheel accessory. — Details after the break!

Zelda: Skyward Sword trailer has pleasant surprise hidden in its theme

So the GDC trailer of Zelda: Skyward Sword has been out for a few months now, but it hasn’t been until now that we’ve discovered a huge easter egg within its theme song. Wait for the video to it 1:03, and watch as the trailer plays backwards and you’ll hear a very familiar tune that Ocarina of Time fans should definitely recall. Careful though, you might whistle the theme for the rest of your day.

Dialoggs - Finally a possible solution for productive communication

As a blog with 11+ writers, it’s hard to find a good tool to allow seamless communication with fellow Okay Geek editors and staff. Sure email works alright most of the time, but it’s messy, bloated, time consuming (really time consuming) and distracting. Then there is the lightweight ability to quickly shoot out a DM on Twitter, but there you’re limited to 140 characters, so efficient communication often results in sporatic broken conversations that take a bit of work to understand. What Dialoggs wants to do is create a closed inviornment for focused, un-restricted and lightweight discussion for creative teams - here’s what you need to know.

Swappa - Buy and Sell Gently Used Android Devices

Most smartphone users buy their device with a two year contract and move on with their lives but if you’re really into phones, you’ll find yourself buying and selling a lot of devices online. The problem is, buying something like a phone online is really really risky. On eBay, you could easily pick up a phone that was stolen or has some sort irreparable damage the buyer is unwilling to talk about. I recently came across a site called “Swappa” and I was blown away. — Head on past the break for a full run down.

GOAB - A new way to watch and share the tv experience

There’s so many ways to watch “television” programming nowadays, though there doesn’t seem to be a way to bring it all together for people to share the experience in real time. And here in lies the power of GOAB, a concept by Syzygy Labs that takes tv and implements tools to enhance and expand it. Will we ever see anything like in our living room? I sure hope so.

Twitter acquires Tweetdeck for loads of cash

Which iOS twitter client do you use? If you’re like most then probably TweetDeck (though I’m not one of them!) Well, sad to say that it looks like Tweetdeck is going to be acquired by Twitter for roughly $50 million. What’s this mean for the future of the mobile and desktop app, we’re not exactly sure. — Check out the details after the break!
